The restore can be used in the following ways;
1Simple restore-
Restoring the subscriptions directly from the backup Excel file with no changes.
2Advanced Restore
2.1An Updated Report
General process.
1.Backup subscriptions for current report(s)
2.Modify Excel files eg Parameter names, and/or subscriptions options
3.Deploy new report.
4.Restore subscriptions deleting current subscriptions.
Notes:
Backup the report subscriptions prior to overwriting the report.
Deleting a report then deploying another report with the same name will result in all subscriptions associated with this report being deleted. Backup the subscriptions of the report first, before deleting by overwriting the report.
If a report is overwritten and there is difference in parameters between the report versions the current subscriptions are likely to fail.
when a report is to be updated all the following situations are catered for:
2.2 Differences in Subscriptions
2.2.1 Changing Subscriptions
Simply modify the cell in the Excel spreadsheet
2.2.2 Additional subscriptions
Add a new row to the excel file, as most of the items will be the similar to the row above it is quicker to copy the row above and modify the cells that are different. IF you want to append to the current subscriptions ensure the Delete Current subscription option is not checked.
2.2.3 Modifying Current Subscriptions
Simply modify the cell in the Excel spreadsheet
2.2.4 Deleting a subscription for a Report
2.3 Differences in Parameters
Report changes, for example report is to be updated and with different parameters.
2.3.1 Adding a New Parameter
Add a new column to the end of the Excel spreadsheet.
2.3.2 Deleting a Parameter
Delete the column from the Excel spreadsheet.
2.3.3 Renaming a Parameter
Simply change the name of the parameter in the Excel spreadsheet cell.
